Remote working options available, but there will be occurrences when meetings will need to be face to face. Office (Bristol) attendance will be expected on such occasions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the DE&S and MOD corporate standards for Systems Engineering and Airworthiness.
  • Govern Safety and Airworthiness in support of the Type Airworthiness Authority.
  • Manage engineering and airworthiness aspects of UAS platform programme including in-service support.
  • Support development of the Release to Service Recommendations to meet RTS requirements and programme schedules.
  • Manage the delivery of all engineering aspects in area of responsibility (Systems Engineering and Airworthiness) including managing the acquisition safety aspects.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance in to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks.
  • Manage the technical requirements for the acquisition lifecycle stage of one or more project, programme, service, or system.
  • Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the ‘safe & professional’ status of the area led.
  • Lead on the development of requirements related to own area of specialism including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.
  • Interface with industry both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risk.
  • Support platform Bowtie development ensuring Equipment Contribution Risk to Life remains valid

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Aviation Engineering (preference for UAS but general aviation acceptable).
  • Able to travel within the UK.

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience in an Aviation Delivery Team (MOD) and use of the AET toolkit.
  • Demonstration of knowledge and/or qualification in Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
