RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the corporate standards for Acquisition Safety.
  • Lead on the delivery of key underpinning airworthiness strategies and plans, ensuring that those required by the TAA are issued.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain effective tailored Safety Management Systems. Identify and analyse hazards and contribute to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed.
  • Provide task assurance of the Safety management system.
  • Manage the Master Evidence Record, ensuring claim owners conduct regular reviews.
  • Take prime responsibility for the production and management of the TASA with all other claim owners.
  • Work with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations and Policy.
  • Develop, produce and maintain project safety assurance plans, monitors compliance, and ensure that safety assurance evidence is gathered and assessed for Type Airworthiness Safety Assessment preparation, contributing to the Air System Safety Case.
  • Produce, review, endorse, and recommend acceptance of safety artefacts.
  • Oversee the management of contractual aspects to ensure safety requirements are captured and the management of contractors who perform safety activities.
  • Provides informed safety advice to decision makers through Project Safety Panels.

EXPERIENCE

  • Practitioner level experience of MOD safety management systems and processes (POSMS).
  • Practitioner level experience of leading air safety management tasks.
  • Practitioner level experience (Plan creation and update) of:
    • Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
    • Safety Case / A Safety Case Report.
    • Hazard Logs
    • Hazard identification and assessment.
    • Operation of safety review meetings.

DESIRABLE

  • Working within Air domain
  • Type Certification experience
  • MOD Airworthiness
  • Fault and Event Tree (FTA / ETA).
  • BowTie assessment.
  • Safety arguments (CAE / GSN).
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulation and standards and defence policy.
